Responsibilities
Tasks
• Review work orders and discuss repair or service requirements with supervisors or senior technician.
• Inspect engines and vehicle systems while in operation to assist in identifying mechanical or performance issues
• Conduct road tests and use computerized diagnostic tools and testing equipment under supervision to detect vehicle faults
• Assist in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and electronic system malfunctions
• Assist in adjusting, repairing, or replacing defective parts and components of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering and suspension, fuel systems, exhaust systems, and emission controls
• Support the servicing and repair of electrical and electronic vehicle components using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment
• Test repaired or replaced systems under supervision to ensure proper operation and compliance with manufacturer specifications
• Make necessary adjustments following testing to improve vehicle safety, reliability, and performance as directed by senior technicians
• Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, and vehicle inspections
• Check and top up fluids and inspect belts, hoses, filters, and other wear components during routine maintenance
• Assist in estimating parts and labour costs required for vehicle maintenance and repair work
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and services performed in accordance with company procedure
